Mortar Repairs at Kippa Ring, QLD

The Problem:

The mortar had deteriorated over time, we think it’s due to not having enough cement in the original mortar mix. Also we believe poor drainage is also a contributing factor as water would pool in the affected areas.

The Solution:

We cut away any loose mortar and washed the affected areas throughly. Once the affected areas were prepared we repointed with 4:1 ratio of sand and cement with sandstone oxide to match the existing.
